New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been silent on the Manipur issue for so long. The opposition has long questioned Modi’s silence. Finally, the Prime Minister spoke in Parliament about the situation in the North Eastern state. Modi said the government is trying to restore peace in Manipur. Modi said the process of bringing peace to the state has already started in consultation with all concerned parties. “The government is making every effort to normalize the situation in Manipur. More than 11,000 complaints have been filed so far. About 500 people have been arrested. Incidents of violence have declined steadily. The joint efforts of the state and central governments have brought peace back to most parts of the northeastern state. Schools, colleges and offices have also been opened.”

Besides warning the instigators behind the violence in Manipur, the Prime Minister also targeted the Congress today. “The state and central governments are in talks with all parties. The Home Minister himself was in Manipur for several weeks. I want to warn those who are supporting this violence. Otherwise, the people of Manipur will also reject you. The Congress also imposed presidential rule in Manipur 10 times.”
