Nw Delhi: The famous rath yatra of Jagannath temple in Puri began on Sunday morning. President Draupadi Murmu arrived in Odisha on Saturday to attend the event. President Murmu is in Puri on Sunday on his four-day visit to Odisha. Extra precautions have been taken to control the crowd during the rath yatra. Officials in charge of security are especially cautious in the wake of the Hasras stampede.
ADG (Law and Order) of Odisha Police Sanjay Kumar Puri is in charge of the overall security of Puri’s Rath Yatra. Addressing the media, he said, “The President will be present during the rath yatra. All arrangements have been made for the security of him and all other devotees. This is the first time AI technology cameras and drones have been used in security arrangements, says Sanjeev Kumar. This will enable close monitoring of devotees, traffic control and access to accurate information at the right time.
