New Delhi: At least nine Maoists were reported killed in clashes with security forces in the Bastar area of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday. A Chhattisgarh police official said that the Maoists clashed with a joint team of security forces in the forests bordering Dantewada and Bijapur districts at around 10.30 am on Tuesday.
Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P said nine bodies of Maoists have been recovered so far. . Police also recovered a large quantity of weapons from the dead Maoists. Search operations are still ongoing in the area. In 2024, security forces shot dead 154 Maoists in various encounters in Chhattisgarh.
