Ahead of the Jharkhand assembly elections, the BJP and its allies, including AJSU and JD(U), have agreed on a seat-sharing arrangement, emphasizing a united front against the INDI alliance.
Guwahati: In preparation for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also the BJP’s co-incharge for the state, announced that the alliance partners have reached a consensus on seat distribution.
Sarma revealed that the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) will contest 10 seats, the Janata Dal (United) will field candidates in 2 constituencies, and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) has been allocated 1 seat. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest the remaining seats.
The coalition aims to strengthen its position in Jharkhand through strategic seat-sharing, presenting a unified front in the electoral contest. Sarma underscored the significance of these elections, which he described as critical for the state’s future.
He contrasted the alliance’s vision with that of the INDI alliance, claiming, “On one side is a track record of sin, corruption, and appeasement over the past five years, and on the other side is #ModiKiGuarantee, which promises progress for the state in the next five years.”
The Jharkhand Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled for November 13 and 20, with results to be announced on November 23. Key dates in the election timeline include:
Gazette notifications on October 18 and 22
Nomination deadlines on October 25 and 29
Scrutiny of nominations on October 28 and 30
Withdrawal of nominations until October 30 and November 1 for each phase.
