In Guwahati, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched Mission Basundhara 3.0, aimed at digitizing land services and granting land rights to indigenous people, while also addressing opposition criticisms.
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially launched Mission Basundhara 3.0 at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra on Sunday. This initiative aims to digitize land services and enhance land rights for the state’s indigenous population.
In his address, CM Sarma responded to critiques from opposition parties, including the Congress and AIUDF, clarifying that the mission is focused on providing essential land rights to indigenous communities. He emphasized the government’s commitment to the principle of “Jati Mati Bheti,” which aims to strengthen local identities and rights.
The Chief Minister’s Office announced that the initiative includes the launch of Digidoc, a digital directory designed to streamline administrative processes related to land documents, thereby improving accessibility and efficiency for citizens.
Mission Basundhara 1.0 debuted on October 2, 2021, followed by Mission Basundhara 2.0 in November 2022, with this latest version building on the lessons learned from its predecessors.
In a separate event, CM Sarma also introduced the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA) 2.0 at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati. This updated program seeks to further support entrepreneurship in Assam, aiming to assist 75,000 beneficiaries with financial incentives, including Rs 5 lakhs for professional courses and Rs 2 lakhs for non-professional courses. The initiative builds on the success of CMAAA 1.0, which had already distributed Rs 510 crores to over 25,000 entrepreneurs.
