Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed strong optimism regarding the potential formation of a BJP-NDA government in Jharkhand as the state prepares for its upcoming Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters on October 20, CM Sarma extended his best wishes to the people of Jharkhand while emphasizing the significance of the electoral landscape.
“The election list has been released, and I am hopeful that our government will be formed,” Sarma stated. When asked about the likelihood of specific party victories, he modestly described himself as “a guest in Jharkhand,” refraining from predicting which party would come out on top. Nonetheless, he conveyed confidence in the BJP-NDA coalition, suggesting that the prevailing public sentiment indicates strong support for their government. “From the mood of the people that I have observed, I feel that the BJP-NDA government will be formed,” he remarked.
In addition, Sarma noted that the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) plans to contest 10 seats, while the Janata Dal (United) will field candidates in 2 constituencies, and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) is allocated one seat. The BJP will contest the remaining seats in this election cycle.
This strategic seat-sharing among alliance partners aims to fortify the coalition’s position in Jharkhand, ensuring a united front as they head into what promises to be a competitive electoral battle. The upcoming elections are seen as a crucial opportunity for the BJP-NDA to strengthen its influence in the region.
