Guwahati: The National Democratic Alliance, comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party and Asom Gana Parishad, has officially declared Nirmal Kumar Brahma as its candidate for the upcoming bye-election in the 31 No. Sidli Legislative Assembly Constituency. Raju Kumar Narzary, General Secretary of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), made the announcement, highlighting Brahma’s extensive local experience.Brahma previously served as a Member of the Council Legislative Assembly (MCLA) in the Bodoland Territorial Council and is currently the Chirang district committee president of UPPL. His background positions him as a strong contender in this election.This bye-election is part of a larger electoral cycle in Assam, with voting also set to occur in the Bongaigaon, Behali, Samaguri, and Dholai constituencies. The voting day is November 13, and the results will be counted on November 23.The Gazette Notification for the elections was issued on October 18. Candidates have until October 25 to file their nomination papers, with scrutiny scheduled for October 28. Nominations can be withdrawn until October 30.
