The 18th Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Inter-Frontier Badminton tournament being organized by Frontier Guwahati from 24 to 27 October 2024 at Laxmibai National Institute of Physical Education at Kamarkuchi, Guwahati

Guwahati:The 18th Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Inter-Frontier Badminton tournament being organized by Frontier Guwahati from 24 to 27 October 2024 at Laxmibai National Institute of Physical Education at Kamarkuchi, Guwahati (Assam). The tournament was inaugurated by Shri Vimal Kumar Bisht, Inspector General, CRPF, North Eastern Zone Guwahati in a grand ceremony.The Sashastra Seema Bal is a border guarding force under the administrative control of the Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI and mandated to guard 1751 km Indo-Nepal and 699 km Indo-Bhutan international borders in the states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Apart from internal security duties in Jammu & Kashmir and North Eastern states, SSB is also undertaking Anti-Naxal operations in Left Wing Extremism affected states of Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand. The force, showing its commitment towards its motto “Service, Security and Brotherhood” conducts various civic action programmes also for the welfare & development of border populace and inculcate a sense of security & patriotism amongst them.Teams from all 6 Frontiers of SSB viz. Ranikhet, Lucknow, Patna, Siliguri, Guwahati, Tezpur as well as Force Headquarters New Delhi and Training Centres are participating in the tournament. 94 players of all ranks will compete in singles, doubles (men and women) and mixed doubles in open and veteran categories. The objective of the tournament is to improve physical endurance, sportsmanship and team spirit among the force personnel. The players selected during this tournament will represent SSB in next All India Police Duty Meet ( AIPDM). On the occasion, Inspector General, Frontier Guwahati, Shri Sudhir Verma welcomed the Chief Guest, all players and said that the event will pivotal in maintaining discipline and team spirit in the force. Shri Verma in his speech highlighted the achievements of the force in sports and said that the force has won 41 medals in National Games, 06 medals in International Games and 157 medals in Police Games in the year 2024. During the program, Shri B.S. Jaswal, Deputy Inspector General, Dr. Salinder Kaur, Deputy Inspector General (Medical), senior officers of Central Armed Police Forces, civil administration, media persons and SSB personnel were present. The tournament will culminate on 27.10.2024.
