AAP Launches Star-Studded Campaign Team for Assam Bye-Elections

The Aam Aadmi Party has unveiled a formidable team of 40 campaigners, including Arvind Kejriwal and other prominent leaders, as they prepare for the upcoming Assam bye-elections on November 13, challenging the BJP and Congress.

Guwahati: As the political landscape heats up ahead of the November bye-elections in Assam, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has revealed a stellar lineup of 40 campaigners aimed at garnering support in the Behali and Samaguri assembly constituencies. Leading the charge is party chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, signaling AAP’s strategy to leverage high-profile figures in their campaign efforts.The campaign roster includes several key political personalities, such as former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, current Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. These leaders are expected to bring their substantial political clout to the campaign trail. Additionally, former cricketer and current AAP Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh will be among those rallying voters, alongside notable parliamentarians like Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha, and Dr. Sandeep Pathak. The inclusion of Delhi ministers such as Saurabh Bhardwaj, Imran Hussain, Gopal Rai, and Jasmine Shah emphasizes AAP’s commitment to making a significant impact in Assam.To complement these national figures, AAP has enlisted 12 state-level leaders who will spearhead grassroots campaigning in the targeted constituencies. The party has fielded Nurul Amin Chowdhury for the Samaguri seat and Ananta Gogoi for Behali, aiming to establish a strong local presence.The upcoming bye-elections will cover five assembly seats: Behali, Samaguri, Dholai, Bongaigaon, and Sidli, with voting scheduled for November 13. As of the nomination deadline, 38 candidates are contesting, with 24 of them submitting their papers on the final day.The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its candidates for three constituencies: Diganta Ghatowar for Behali, Diplu Ranjan Sarma for Samaguri, and Nihar Ranjan Das for Dholai. Their allies, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), will field candidates in Bongaigaon and Sidli, respectively. AGP’s Diptimoyee Choudhury, spouse of Lok Sabha MP Phani Bhushan Choudhury, will run in Bongaigaon, while Nirmal Kumar Brahma will represent UPPL in Sidli.The Congress party is also contesting all five seats, with prominent candidates like Tanzil Hussain in Samaguri, son of former state minister Rakibul Hussain, and Jayanta Borah, a former BJP leader, aiming to secure a win in Behali. Other candidates include Dhrubajyoti Purakayastha in Dholai, Sanjib Warle in Sidli, and Brajenjit Sinha in Bongaigaon.
