Indian authorities have detained Bangladeshi national Imdadul Haque at Golakganj Railway Station after his erratic behavior raised security alarms during his journey from Bangladesh to India.
Guwahati: In a recent security incident along the India-Bangladesh border, Indian authorities detained a Bangladeshi national named Imdadul Haque at Golakganj Railway Station in Dhubri on Sunday. Haque, the son of Mohammad Farman Ali, hails from Bidyananda Gaon in Mymensingh district, Bangladesh. He reportedly crossed into India three to four days earlier through the heavily monitored border at Bipinganj Mukti Yodha in Meghalaya and made his way towards Delhi.During his travels, Haque returned to India via Sealdah and then Kamakhya Railway Station in Guwahati, eventually boarding a train bound for Dhubri. Passengers aboard the train noted his unusual and erratic behavior, describing it as “whirlwind-like,” which raised suspicions and created unease among them. Concerns grew regarding his mental state as he exhibited actions suggestive of possible mental health issues.Upon arriving at Fakiragram Railway Station, Haque disembarked at Golakganj, where local police detained him due to worries about potential involvement in suspicious activities that could pose a threat to public safety. This incident underscores the complexities of managing cross-border security, particularly when mental health factors are involved. Authorities in Golakganj have placed Haque in a detention facility while they verify his identity and intentions in India. The Border Security Force (BSF) and Indian officials have committed to a thorough investigation, aiming to determine whether Haque’s actions were linked to any cross-border manipulation or solely a result of mental instability. Further updates are anticipated as investigations unfold and mental health professionals assess his condition.
