Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma expresses strong confidence in BJP’s chances in the Jharkhand Assembly elections, citing public discontent with the JMM government and advocating for tribal issues.
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is co-in-charge of the BJP’s campaign for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, has expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in the state. He believes that widespread dissatisfaction with the current Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government will pave the way for a BJP victory.Sarma emphasized that the electorate is disillusioned with the JMM leadership, stating, “I am confident that this time the BJP government will be formed very well.” He also addressed the issue of illegal infiltration, urging Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to cooperate with the central government to tackle the problem. “Once Hemant Soren commits to removing the infiltrators, our conflict will cease. He should work alongside the central government on this issue,” Sarma noted.On October 30, Sarma announced that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is committed to pushing for the inclusion of the Ho language in the Constitution’s 8th Schedule. This initiative aims to recognize and promote the language spoken by the Ho tribal community.Furthermore, Sarma criticized the Congress party for being anti-tribal in its policies. His remarks came amidst ongoing political discussions aimed at addressing tribal concerns ahead of the elections. He also mentioned that candidates in Chaibasa who were initially planning to contest separately are now retracting their nominations, consolidating support for the BJP.
