BTC Government Declares November 16 as Local Holiday for Bodo Literary Day

The Bodoland Territorial Region announces November 16 as a local holiday to celebrate Bodo Literary Day, honoring the significance of Bodo language and literature. All government offices and educational institutions will remain closed

Guwahati: The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTC) government has officially declared November 16, 2024, as a local holiday in observance of Boro Thunlai Shaan (Bodo Literary Day), a day dedicated to celebrating and recognizing the rich heritage of Bodo literature.

In accordance with the declaration, all government offices and educational institutions in the BTC region will remain closed on this day. The BTC government has also encouraged both public and private organizations to honor the holiday and actively participate in celebrations that highlight the importance of the Bodo language and its literary traditions.

A formal notification issued by the BTC stated: “The Bodoland Territorial Council is pleased to declare a Local Holiday on 16th November 2024 (Saturday) in observance of Bodo Thunlai Shaan (Bodo Literary Day). All educational institutions and government offices in the BTR will remain closed. We request all educational institutions to observe the day by participating in literary events and functions dedicated to the Bodo language.”

The move aims to foster pride and promote further appreciation for Bodo literature, culture, and language among the people of Bodoland. It is a significant step in preserving and honoring the unique linguistic heritage of the Bodo community.
