The Assam government has suspended five ACS officers for failing to report for election duties, prompting a departmental inquiry into the matter.
Guwahati: The Assam government has suspended five Assam Civil Services (ACS) officers for allegedly neglecting their assigned election-related responsibilities. The officers—Konkonyoti Saikia, Prismita Dihingia, Jintu Sharma, Saroj Kumar Deka, and Kabya Shree Dihingia—were designated to oversee various election tasks as part of routine administrative assignments under the Election Commission’s directives.
Despite clear instructions, none of the officers showed up for their election duties, leading to their suspension. In light of this, the state government has launched a departmental inquiry to examine whether the officers’ failure to comply with their duties was due to negligence or other underlying causes. The inquiry will seek to clarify the reasons behind their absence and determine if further disciplinary actions are necessary.
