Four individuals in Chirang have been sentenced to life imprisonment in separate cases of dacoity, murder, and kidnapping, after decades-long trials.
Guwahati:The Additional District and Sessions Judge of Bijni has handed down life imprisonment sentences to four individuals in two significant cases of crime that had remained unresolved for years. In the first case (No. 182/1989), related to a dacoity and murder, Shankar Rajbanshi (68) and Ranjit Rajbanshi (48), both from Lakhijhora No. 2, were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment after a lengthy trial.The second case (No. 364/2014), involving kidnapping and murder, resulted in life sentences for Majid Ali (42) and Zakir Hussain (34) from East Khamarpara. In addition, Asmat Ali (25), a co-accused in the same case, was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment.These rulings bring closure to long-pending cases and underscore the judicial system’s dedication to delivering justice, even in complex and delayed trials.
