he Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is commemorating the 90th year of its operations this year. As part of the series of events being held throughout the year to mark this milestone, the bank has launched the RBI90Quiz, a nationwide general knowledge-based quiz competition aimed at engaging undergraduate students across India

Guwahati:The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is commemorating the 90th year of its operations this year. As part of the series of events being held throughout the year to mark this milestone, the bank has launched the RBI90Quiz, a nationwide general knowledge-based quiz competition aimed at engaging undergraduate students across India.The RBI90Quiz is a team-based contest, being held in multiple stages. The online phase and the state level rounds were conducted in September and November 2024 respectively. The Zonal-level round of the RBI90Quiz for the North Eastern States was held today at Hotel Radisson Blue, Guwahati.The zonal round witnessed enthusiastic participation from the state level winners of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, and Tripura. Shubhajit Chakraborty and Shreya Modak from Netaji Subhash Mahavidyalaya, Tripura bagged the first prize, whereas Kishan Mittal and Ayush Maurya from NIT Silchar, Assam won the second prize. Similarly Arush Raman and Nazia Sheikh from NIT, Meghalaya won the third prize.The top three teams were awarded cash prizes, with the winners receiving 5 lakh, the first runners-up 4 lakh and the second runners-up 3lakh. The winning team will now compete in the national level, which will take place at Mumbai on December 06, 2024. Shri Arnab Kumar Chowdhury, Executive Director, Central Office RBI presided over the event and felicitated the participants. Shri Chowdhury highlighted that the RBI90Quiz aims to encourage students to understand RBI’s critical role in shaping the financial system. He emphasized the importance of financial literacy and said that a financially aware young population can be a powerful multiplier in propagating financial awareness among others. Smt. Nisha Nambiar, CGM in Charge, FIDD, CO and Smt. Sushmita Phukan, RD RBI Guwahati graced the occasion with their introductory and welcome address.
