Tripura’s Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury condemns the attack on a bus traveling from Agartala to Kolkata through Bangladesh, urging immediate action for the safety of Indian passengers.

Guwahati: On November 30, Tripura’s Transport Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, voiced strong condemnation after a violent incident involving an Indian bus traveling through Bangladesh. The bus, operated by Shyamoli Paribahan, was en route from Agartala, Tripura, to Kolkata when it was attacked on Brahmanbaria Bishwa Road, a key route in Bangladesh.Minister Chowdhury explained that the bus was struck by a truck carrying goods, seemingly in a deliberate attempt to cause an accident. At the same time, an auto rickshaw suddenly veered in front of the bus, resulting in a collision. The situation worsened when local individuals, reportedly hostile to the Indian passengers, gathered at the scene.The assailants proceeded to threaten the passengers with violent remarks and anti-India slogans. The local crowd continued to intimidate the Indian passengers, with some even making death threats. Minister Chowdhury noted that the passengers, who were visibly shaken, feared for their lives due to the hostile atmosphere.The Transport Minister strongly condemned the attack, describing it as an act of aggression and an attempt to terrorize the passengers. He demanded immediate intervention from Bangladeshi authorities to ensure the safety of Indian nationals traveling through their country.In his statement, Chowdhury called on the Bangladesh government to take swift action, ensuring that such incidents are prevented in the future and that the safety of foreign travelers is guaranteed. He also urged that the authorities investigate the attack thoroughly and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.This attack has raised serious concerns about the safety of Indian nationals traveling to and from Bangladesh, especially when crossing through areas that have seen tensions between the two nations.
