Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has instructed his ministers to refrain from making political statements and participating in interviews that stray from the core agenda of governance. This directive, issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), emphasizes the government’s commitment to socio-economic progress and urges ministers to maintain focus on their development-related duties. The directive outlined the government’s ambitious developmental programs, including the “12 Days of Development” initiative, and stressed the importance of staying focused on citizen-centric projects. “In light of these ongoing efforts, it is crucial that we avoid distractions,” the statement read. The directive also pointed out that certain ministers’ political comments or reactions to media provocations had caused unnecessary controversies, shifting the focus away from governance. Some ministers, during media interactions, have been drawn into political discussions, which, according to the CMO, only detract from the government’s development agenda. The Chief Minister urged all ministers to use media interactions as an opportunity to discuss only developmental issues, avoiding responses to political provocations. The message concluded by stressing the need for collective efforts to successfully implement the government’s policies, ensuring positive change in Assam’s socio-economic landscape for its citizens.
