The arrests were made following intelligence about organized child marriage activities in localities such as College TOP, Bazar TOP, Gauripur, and Golakganj, among others.The crackdown is part of a larger effort by the state to eliminate underage marriages, a practice that continues to be a significant concern. Police confirmed that the individuals detained were either directly involved in arranging or participating in child marriages, violating the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.A senior police officer emphasized the state’s zero-tolerance policy, stating, “Protecting children and securing their right to education and a safe future remains our top priority.”As part of ongoing efforts, authorities have launched awareness campaigns to educate the public about the legal implications of child marriage and the importance of adhering to marriageable age laws.
