In a joint operation with the Customs Department and Tripura Police, Assam Rifles seized 3.9 lakh Yaba tablets valued at Rs 78 crore in Dhalai district, Tripura, arresting a key suspect.
Guwahati: In a highly coordinated operation, Assam Rifles, alongside the Customs Department and Tripura Police, successfully intercepted a major drug trafficking attempt in Dhalai district, Tripura, on December 20, 2024. The operation led to the seizure of 3.9 lakh Yaba tablets, worth approximately Rs 78 crore in the international market.The drugs were discovered in the Gandachherra area, about 35 kilometers from Teliamura. Based on precise intelligence, security forces apprehended 33-year-old Rakesh Miya from Melaghar, Sonamura, who was transporting the illegal consignment. The operation, which took place at around 6 p.m., was completed by 8 p.m., marking a significant blow to drug networks in the region.A senior official from Assam Rifles praised the operation, stating, “This seizure showcases the exceptional dedication and intelligence capabilities of our forces.” The success of this mission aligns with ongoing government efforts to combat security threats in Northeast India, underscoring the region’s strategic importance in tackling cross-border crime.
