Nepalese activist Anuradha Koirala, renowned for her fight against human trafficking, receives the prestigious Upendra Nath Brahma Soldiers of Humanity Award 2024 in recognition of her lifelong humanitarian efforts.
Guwahati: Anuradha Koirala, a prominent social activist from Nepal known for her relentless fight against human trafficking, was awarded the 21st Upendra Nath Brahma Soldiers of Humanity Award 2024 in a special ceremony held at the Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar. The honor acknowledges Koirala’s exceptional contributions to humanity, particularly her work in protecting women and children from exploitation.Koirala, often referred to as the “Mother Teresa of Nepal,” was lauded for her tireless efforts to combat human trafficking and offer support to its survivors. The award includes a certificate, a statue of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, a traditional Dhokhona set, an Aronai, and a cash prize of ₹2 lakh.The award, named after the revered Bodo leader Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, celebrates those who dedicate themselves to promoting peace, defending marginalized communities, and advocating for the oppressed. The event, held on Sunday, was presided over by Assam Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, with Padma Shri awardee Patricia Mukhim serving as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included ABSU President Dipen Boro and UNBT President Dr. Dimasha D. Musahary.Koirala’s global recognition includes prestigious accolades such as the Padma Shri (2017), CNN Hero of the Year (2010), and the German UNIFEM Prize (2007). This latest award further acknowledges her significant contributions to the global fight against human trafficking and her unwavering support for its survivors.
