Assam Police’s Special Task Force arrests two additional Ansarullah Bangla Team members, seizing weapons and materials linked to jihadi activities.

Guwahati: The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police has successfully arrested two more members of the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), a militant outfit connected to Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). This latest operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the group’s network in the region.These arrests come after earlier operations that led to the detention of eight ABT operatives across Assam, West Bengal, and Kerala. Of the eight, five were arrested in Assam’s Kokrajhar and Dhubri districts, while two were caught in West Bengal, and one Bangladeshi national was apprehended in Kerala.The latest suspect, Abul Zahar SK, 30, was apprehended in Kokrajhar’s Joypur Namapara area. Following his arrest, authorities recovered a significant cache of illegal weapons and materials, including:Four handmade rifles,34 rounds of ammunition,24 blank cartridgesMaterials used for creating Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)he STF continues its investigation into the matter, with further details expected soon. These recent arrests underscore the force’s commitment to neutralizing militant threats and safeguarding the state’s security.
