Uttar Pradesh: 4 Dead, 24 Injured After Truck Collides With Stationary Bus

Four people were killed and 24 others were injured after a truck collided with a bus carrying migrant workers in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh today.

The accident took place when a truck hit a double-decker bus from behind at Mahungupur in Barabanki.

The double-decker bus was carrying Nepali migrant labourers to Goa when one of its tyres got punctured.

The bus driver then parked the vehicle on the side of the road and was changing a tyre when a speeding truck hit the vehicle from behind.

There were a total of 60 passengers on board. Out of 60, 4 were killed and 24 were injured.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem, while the injured were admitted to the Barabanki district hospital.

Investigation into the matter is on.

“The remaining passengers are safe and we are in the process of sending them back to Nepal,” said Barabani senior police officer Purnendu Singh.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of road accident deaths in 2021, with 24,711 deaths.
