Manipur: 5 JD(U) MLAs Formally Join BJP In Delhi
Five MLAs from Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) who merged with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) foramlly joined the party today in the presence of party President JP Nadda in the national capital Delhi.
According to a statement from Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat on Friday the 5 MLAs– Kh. Joykishan Singh, Md Achab Uddin, Ngursanglur Sanate, Thangjam Arunkumar, and LM Khaute merged with the ruling party BJP.
According to reports, JDU chief Rajiv Ranjan Lalan Singh stated on Saturday that the merger was done by BJP using money power.

They can do anything they want, but by 2023, the JD(U) will be a national party, the JDU chief added.
It may be mentioned that the latest development comes only weeks after Nitish Kumar left the BJP in favour of forming a coalition with Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal, the Congress, and other parties, removing the BJP from the co-seat pilot’s in Bihar.
The BJP has targeted Nitish Kumar’s legislators in the northeast for the second time.
In Arunachal Pradesh, six of seven JDU legislators joined the BJP in 2020, while the lone MLA joined the BJP this week.
The JDU had won six of the 38 constituencies it had contested in the March assembly elections results of which were declared on March 10.
