IMD predicts rainfall over Northeast during next few days

Guwahati: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall likely to continue over extreme South Peninsular and Northeast India during the next four to five days.

Isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms or lightning are very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during the next 3 days.

Isolated very heavy rainfall was also likely over Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya on Sunday.

Similar weather conditions are expected to prevail over Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next three days. Subdued rainfall activity is likely to continue over the plains of northwest India and over central India during the next five days.

Meanwhile, Southern states like Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and south interior Karnataka are likely to witness fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms or lightning during the next five days, as per IMD report.
