Guwahati: IIT Student Found Hanging In Hostel Room

Guwahati: A student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati was found dead in his hostel room, officials said on Saturday.

The deceased identified as  Surya Narayan Premkishore, a final year student of Btech student, was a resident of Kerala.

According to the official, “The student was found hanging in his hostel room. However, police has been recovered the body and sent for post-mortem.”

Meanwhile, the exact reason behind the extreme step of the student has not been ascertained yet.

Police have started an investigation after registering an unnatural death case.

“It is with great sadness that IIT Guwahati announces the untimely passing away of a final year undergraduate student of the Design Department on the campus. The institute has informed the parents of the student and they are on their way to Guwahati”, as per IIT-G administrative official.
