Areca nuts worth Rs 50 lakh seized at Guwahati Railway Station

Yet in an another breakthrough, police seized a huge consignment of Burmese Areca Nuts at Guwahati Railway Station on Sunday.

According to sources, Polics along with Government Railway Police seized the contraband from one bogie of Rajdhani Express.

The team recovered as many as 40 sacks and one box full of areca nuts.

The market value of the seized Areca Nuts are over Rs. 50 lakhs, police said.

The seized nuts were smuggled from Nagaland’s Dimapur.

It may ne mentioned that earlier in the last week Security forces have seized Burmese supari worth Rs 15 lakh from a truck in Hojai.

There were a total of 70 sacks of Burmese supari.

Meanwhile, the driver of the truck identified as Kalim Uddin was arrested in connection.
