Suspended Uttarakhand Forest ranger arrested in Tiger Safari fraud case from Assam
Guwahati: Suspended Ranger was arrested by the Uttarakhand vigilance department in connection with illegal felling of trees and constructions in Corbett Tiger Reserve on Thursday.
The ranger has been identified as Brij Bihari Sharma.
Sharma was arrested by vigilance sleuths from Guwahati in Assam, officials added.
The official further added that the arrest was made by a vigilance team from Haldwani.
As per the official, Sharma was under suspension for his involvement in tree felling and illegal constructions in Morghatti and Pakhro forest ranges of the reserve.
Last year, on October 25, Sharma had been suspended after his indictment in high-level probes conducted into the case by the National Tiger Conservation Authority and the Forest Department.
