Delhi: Man Arrested For Raping Woman After Promising Marriage
A man has been arrested after a 28-year-old woman accused him of raping her while promising to marry her.
The accused has been identified as Sundar Yadav, a resident of Farooq Nagar, Gurgaon.
The woman addressed the staff at the Hari Nagar police station in West Delhi on Tuesday, according to the police, which resulted in the uncovering of the incident.
The woman said in her written complaint that she first met Sundar Yadav about four months ago and that they soon began talking on the phone.
A senior police official stated that the suspect even insisted on meeting her.
On Monday, the accused took her to a hotel in Subhash Nagar and raped her on the pretext of marriage, he said.
According to the woman’s statement and the medical-legal case, a FIR was filed at the Hari Nagar police station under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Ghanshyam Bansal.
Following that, a raid was carried out in Farooq Nagar in Gurgaon, Haryana, and the suspect was taken into custody.
The accused admitted to having a relationship with the victim while being questioned. Further investigation is in progress.
