Assam cabinet taken several key decisions

Guwahati: Assam cabinet took several key decisions on Wednesday including the distribution of scooters to meritorious students, an increase in salary of Assistant Professors, a new hotel in Kaziranga, and guidelines on the issuance of caste certificates.

Taking to Twitter, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma wrote, “In today’s #AssamCabinet, several key decisions were taken regarding the distribution of scooters to meritorious students, increase in salary of Assistant Professors, a new hotel in Kaziranga and guidelines on issuance of caste certificates.”

Assam cabinet decided to developed a hotel in Kaziranga by Saraf Hotel Enterprises (Hyatt Group of Hotels) to boost tourism.

During the cabinet meeting, the Assam government also approved scooters for 29,748 girl students who secured 1st division and 6,052 boy students who secured 75% and above in HS Examination, 2022 to encourage students and ensure better HS results.

Total cost to be incurred Rs. 258.9 crore, said the official.

“The Department of Higher Education to provide financial assistance for registration and insurance to beneficiaries through nodal principals, as part of the proposal”, official added.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, also decided to hike salary of Assistant Professors. “Monthly remuneration of Assistant Professors working for fixed pay in provincialised colleges hiked to Rs. 55,000 (fixed)”, official stated.

The cabinet also approved the guidelines on standard procedure for issuance of Hill Tribes in Plains and Plain Tribes in Hills certificates.

‘Caste certificates to be provided to eligible persons by DCs online, similar to SC/ST/OBC/MOBC Certificates under Mission Bhumiputra, to help them avail economic, educational and employment benefits of State Government”, officials added.
