Man arrested for smuggling exotic Cuscus from Thailand to India

A passenger was apprehended in Chennai by customs officials with five exotic animals.

After the traveler arrived from Bangkok on October 23, the officials detained him.
He attempted to conceal the animals in his checked luggage.

As per reports, he brought in five dwarf and common cuscus.

When his luggage was being checked, the creatures were discovered.

“On 23.10.22, Custom officers seized/detained 5Nos. of Dwarf and Common spotted Cuscus concealed inside check-in baggage from a pax who arrived from Bangkok. All the Cuscus were deported to Thailand as advised by AQ authorities. Pax arrested,”Customs Zone, Chennai tweeted.

The passenger was detained upon the completion of the documentation and legal actions, and the animals were returned to Thailand for rehabilitative purposes.

It should be noted that many animals are alleged to have been trafficked into India in recent months from beyond international borders.

Even kangaroos, which are thought to be native to Australia, were among the animals.
