A boat capsized in Gossaigaon, Assam’s Kokrajhar district, on Wednesday, leaving two women missing.
According to reports, the incident happened as a group of five people crossed the Sankosh River to reach the other bank in order to gather firewood.
With the combined efforts of locals, three people were rescued.
Ramisa Khatun and Safia Bibi have been identified as the missing women.
Police and SDRF forces began search efforts in the interim to find the missing people.
