The patient first came to Kolkata from Siliguri for treatment. Doctors advised him a liver transplant. He was asked to go to the private hospital in Hyderabad. After the examination, the doctors came to know that the weight of the woman’s liver had increased abnormally. The woman was walking around with about 12 kg of liver. Doctors were also surprised to see this.
Doctors found that the huge liver had spread throughout most of the woman’s stomach. Generally, the weight of the human liver is one and a half kilograms. A team of doctors led by liver transplant specialist Dr Ravichand Siddachari performed the surgery on the woman’s body for 14 hours at a hospital in Hyderabad. In addition to removing the huge liver, two more organs are transplanted. The surgery was successful.
