It may be recalled that the seat fell vacant after the death of former MLA Jambe Tashi at the age of 48 at a hospital in Guwahati in November last year. The deadline for filing nominations was February 7 at 3 pm. But no one filed nominations against the BJP candidate.
The nomination papers were scrutinised on February 8, and the deadline for withdrawal of candidature has been fixed for February 10.
