New Delhi:Rs 2,000 notes are being withdrawn from the market. In this context, there has been a discussion in various quarters about whether thousands of rupee notes will be introduced again in the country.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes from the market. Rs 2,000 notes will have to be deposited by September 30. In this context, the discussion on Rs 1,000 notes has started. After the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes, can there be a return of Rs 1,000 notes to the market? RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das faced questions on the issue.

The RBI governor on Monday said that while Rs 2,000 notes have been withdrawn, there is no need to introduce new Rs 1,000 notes. No plan. Seven years ago, thousands of rupee notes were in circulation in the country. On November 8, 2016, the Narendra Modi government demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes. After that, a new Rs 2,000 note came to the market. But the government has decided to withdraw the note from the market this time. In such a situation, there has been a discussion in various quarters whether to introduce thousand rupee notes again in the country. However, the RESERVE Bank said there was no such thought.
Shaktikanta Das said, “It’s all speculation. There are no plans yet to introduce Rs 1,000 notes. After demonetisation in 2016, Rs 2,000 notes were introduced to supply notes in the market. At present, the supply of other notes is substantial. Therefore, in 2018-19, the printing of Rs 2,000 notes was stopped.
