The Home Ministry had asked the Manipur-Mizoram governments to collect details of illegal immigrants by September 30

New Delhi: On April 28, Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla had asked the governments of Manipur and Mizoram to collect biometric and biometric details of illegal immigrants, with September 30 as the deadline. Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, in an interview recently, blamed illegal immigrants from Myanmar for the ongoing violence in the state.

New Delhi: Days before ethnic violence erupted in Manipur, Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla had asked the governments of Manipur and Mizoram to collect “biographical and biometric details of illegal migrants”.

This biometric details also include the retina and iris of the eye and fingerprints.

In a letter dated June 22, the ministry had also reminded the states to complete the exercise by September 30.
