New Delhi: Explosion on the banks of Alaknanda river. At least 15 people were killed when a transformer exploded at the ‘Namami Gange’ project. Most of them are workers. Many others were injured. A policeman was also killed. Besides, the outpost-in-charge of Pipalkoti lost his life in the accident. All of them were involved in the ‘Namami Gange’ project.
The accident took place in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district late on Tuesday night while work on the ‘Namami Gange’ project. Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot. Rescue operations are underway. Chamoli SP Paramendra Doval said the injured have been admitted to a local hospital. However, their condition is critical.
