New Delhi: Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the opposition alliance ‘India’ will face a litmus test. The litmus test will take place in the by-election to Ghosi constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

In the interest of defeating the BJP, parties like the Congress, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Apna Dal etc. have decided not to field their own candidates in the constituency and extend support to Samajwadi Party candidate Sudhkar Singh. These three parties have issued an official letter supporting the SP candidate. Congress’ Uttar Pradesh president Ajay Rai said, “This election will mark the beginning of the BJP’s defeat. The people of Maur have completely lost faith in the BJP due to dara singh chouhan’s politics of defection. Here they have made up their mind to defeat the BJP and are determined to ensure victory of the alliance candidates”.
