Moroccan earthquake death toll crosses 2,000, aid from ‘enemy’ countries also

New Delhi: The death toll from the Moroccan earthquake has exceeded 2,000. The number of injured is also said to be more than 2,000. It is feared that many may still be trapped under the debris. Rescue operations are in full swing. A helping hand has been extended to Morocco from all parts of the world.


Morocco is a small mountainous country in the northwest of Africa. On Friday night, a powerful earthquake shook the soil of the country. The quake struck around 11:30 p.m. local time. It was 6.8 on the Richter scale. Morocco has since been rocked by a few small aftershocks. The epicentre of the quake was 72 km southwest of the city of Marakash.
