New Delhi: Another disaster in Uttarakhand! A major accident took place on the morning of Kali Puja after a tunnel under construction collapsed in Devbhum. At least 40 workers were trapped inside the rubble. Rescue operations are underway in wartime operations. However, no deaths have been reported so far.
Tunnels are being built for ‘All Weather’ so that visitors can visit Chardham throughout the year. This road has been constructed to reduce the road from Uttarkashi to Yamunotri Dham by at least 26 km. The tunnel is being built as part of that project. A portion of the tunnel collapsed around 4 am on Sunday. However, there is confusion about the cause of the accident.
A 4.5-km-long tunnel was being constructed along the Brahmakal-Yamunotri highway in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district. A 150-metre section of the tunnel collapsed suddenly. There were at least 40 workers. All of them are reportedly trapped under the rubble.
