Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurates ration card distribution programme in the state, nearly 40 lakh families will be benefitted
Guwahati:Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today distributed ration cards among beneficiaries under National Food Security by the Assam government. The Chief Minister said that the government is trying to provide free food to about 40 lakh families through such efforts. It is to be noted that new ration cards also have been distributed in the state from today.
The chief minister started this program of distribution of ration cards. Ration cards will be distributed among 43 lakh beneficiaries. This time, 10 lakh 73 thousand new beneficiaries have received ration cards.The Chief Minister distributed 7,350 ration cards in his own hands in Jalukbari constituency. The event was held at Baripara in Maligaon . In his speech, the Chief Minister said that rice will be provided free of cost to eligible . In a family of seven 35 kilograms a month, a family of five will get 25 kilos a month and a family of three will get 15 kilos a month. Chief Minister Sharma also called upon people to continue the work of cleanliness in the surroundings of the houses till January 22 on the occasion of the establishment of the life of the Ram temple.
