Supreme Court slams Centre over ‘fake’ advertisements by Ramdev’s firm

New Delhi: The Modi government has moved the Supreme Court against Patanjali in its ‘fake and misleading’ advertisement case. The top court observed, “The government is sitting with its eyes closed. In November last year, the Supreme Court had imposed a fine of up to Rs 1 crore on yoga guru Ramdev-owned companies for creating advertisements with false information. The Modi government is also facing the Supreme Court’s condemnation in that case.

The IMA had filed a case alleging that Patanjali was creating advertisements with wrong information opposing modern medicines. Earlier, the Supreme Court had strongly reprimanded Patanjali’s advertisements. It is clear that advertisements cannot be made with misleading or false information.
