The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) recently released a report. It said 33 per cent of MPs in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament, have criminal cases against them. The amount of their combined assets is about Tk 20,000 crore! According to a joint study by the National Election Watch (NEW) and ADR, two Rajya Sabha MPs are facing charges under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The four MPs have been booked under Section 307 or attempt to murder. The survey was conducted among 225 Rajya Sabha MPs.
