Lollipop singer Pawan Singh refuses to contest from Asansol Lok Sabha seat

New Delhi: Pawan Singh is not contesting from Asansol. The Bhojpuri ‘Lollipop’ singer tagged BJP national president JP Nadda in his X-handle. TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee said Pawan was forced to resign due to the “public outcry” of the people of the state.
“I am sincerely grateful to the top leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The party trusted me and declared me as a candidate from Asansol, but due to some reason, I will not be able to contest the election from Asansol. What happened that the Bhojpuri singer changed his mind overnight?

Ever since Pawan Singh’s name was announced, there has been a lot of discussion about the BJP candidate from Asansol! From the prominent people to the ruling party of the state, everyone is vocal in condemning the ‘lollipop’ singer. It is alleged that he sang ‘sexually stimulating’, ‘misogynistic’ songs about the women of Bengal. This time, there was a demand within the party to change the BJP candidate from Asansol. Tathagata Roy demanded that someone else be nominated for the seat immediately. “The BJP does not choose a candidate on the whims and fancies of a woman like the Trinamool. Rather, they select the candidates by following certain rules. But surveyors are not above error. Asansol needs to rethink. ”
