Kanchanjunga Express accident death toll rises to 8, 30 injured, PM announces aid

New Delhi: In West Bengal’s Rangapani Kanchenjunga Express collided with a freight train, bringing back memories of the Karmandal Express accident. The death toll from the accident that took place at 8.55 am on Monday has increased by 8 people. According to Darjeeling Additional Superintendent of Police Abhishek Roy said that eight bodies have been recovered from the accident site. The death toll is expected to rise. At least 30 people were injured. It is feared that the many passengers may trapped.

Many injured people have been rescued during the rescue operation. The injured were rescued and taken to Siliguri Medical College Hospital. The help desk has been opened.

Railways has sent many ambulances to the spot. The rescue team continued to help the passengers of the accident train in every way. Prime Minister Modi has announced an aid of RS 2 lakh i and Rs 50 thousand for the wounded victims of the tragic train accident .
