Guwahati: There is a bad sign for the health sector in the state. There are fears that the resignation of more than half a hundred doctors in the state will have a profound impact on the health service. It is noteworthy that 16 doctors of Guwahati Medical College have resigned within a day. Similarly, 13 doctors from Jorhat Medical College and 11 doctors from Assam Medical College Hospital have resigned.
The list of doctors who resigned on the same day includes doctors from Shilchar, Nalbari, Kokrajhar and Diphu medical colleges. However, the health department has not accepted the resignation letters of all the doctors fearing a complication. It is learned that the health department has accepted the resignation letters of one doctor each from of GMCH and AMCH. Similarly, the resignation letters of one doctor each from pathology, GMCH radiology and neurology at Assam Medical College have been accepted.
But why the doctors have suddenly resigned is a big question. The government had issued a notice to doctors in government hospitals regarding the treatment in private hospitals. The government’s decision has left many doctors in private hospitals unhappy. Therefore, many doctors may resigned on the same day.
