Dr. Prabin Chandra Das, an eminent folklorist and scholar from Guwahati, died late last night. He was 82.
He breathed his last at around 1. 30 am at the Health City Hospital in Khanapara, Guwahati.
According to reports, Dr. Das had been hospitalised for a long period after suffering a brain stroke.
Das left behind his wife, son and two daughters.
The noted writer was a former professor at Gauhati University’s department of folklore Research.
Das was also known for his writings.
Among his best-known and well-known works are ‘Bon Birinar Sat,’ ‘ ‘Seuj Monor Din,’ Boxontar Bauli Bukusat,’ and ‘Xomaj Xahitya Xangskriti,’ the latter of which was translated into English as Society Literature Culture.
