Assam: A wild elephant was killed after being hit by a goods train

Guwahati: A wild elephant was killed after being hit by a goods train in Assam’s Hojai district on Thursday evening, said the official.

According to sources, the incident took place near Hawaipur in the district, when the elephant tried to cross the railway track.

“A goods train carrying cement hit the elephant, however, the elephant was dashed and fell on the track”, officially added.

“The incident occurred on Thursday at the evening time around 6.20 pm near Hawaipur in Hojai district when the elephant tried to cross the railway track”, the official said.
