Several houses have been damaged due to heavy rainfall and a storm caused by Cyclone Sitrang in the Nagaon district of Assam.
The cyclonic storm on Monday night caused numerous trees and utility poles to be uprooted throughout the area.
According to reports, the storm caused damage to a number of houses in the central Assam district’s Kaliabor, Bamuni, Sakmuthia tea estate, and Boraligaon areas.
However, no casualties due to the storm have been reported so far in the area.
A deep depression over Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm “Sitrang”, the Indian Meteorological Department.
