Guwahati : Assam Government is going to script three new Guinness World Records through its Amrit Brikshya Andolan started from September 9, besides breaking six existing Guinness World Records in different categories.Assam Govt has taken a great initiative to plant 1 Cr plants to stop global warming on 17 September 2023. The event is known as Amrit Brikha Andolan and from individual citizens to government employees, officers all are participating in this event.
Before this auspicious event the Prime Minister Narendra Modi writes to Assam Cm Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
In his letter Modi Writes-“I received your letter and it is heartening to learn about the launch of the Amrit Brikshya Andolan. The idea of planting one crore saplings across Assam is admirable and laudable.Our culture and literature contain several references that reflect the importance of trees and forests. A popular Sanskrit subhashita says: वायूनां शोधकाः वृक्षाः रोगाणामपहारकाः । तस्माद् रोपणमेतेषां रक्षणं च हितावहम्.It means trees purify the air and are helpful in driving away diseases. Thus, planting and protection of trees is beneficial for living beings.The picturesque state of Assam is blessed with rich biodiversity and diverse ecosystems, including a wide range of flora and fauna. The plantation of saplings on private and community owned lands will go a long way in enhancing green cover in the scenic state.Bringing Prakriti and Pragati together has been a hallmark of the development model of New India. While we have been the fastest growing economy, we have also been perhaps the only major nation to meet committed climate targets.Initiatives such as the Amrit Brikshya Andolan will further bolster our national mission for clean and green growth. It will also lead to several long-term spin-off benefits for environment protection and in improving the health of people.The planting of saplings with the help of local communities will foster the spirit of Jan Bhagidari and bring a sense of ownership and environmental stewardship among the people.I am sure that during the Amrit Kaal, the Amrit Sankalp behind Amrit Brikshya Andolan will benefit the people of Assam in various ways.
