New Delhi: The last phase of Lok Sabha Election 2024 is going on. The country participates in the festival of democracy. The rays of that festival have reached Tashigaon, a village in Lahol-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. Here is the highest polling station in the world. The number of voters is only 62 in this center located at 15 thousand 256 feet above the sea level. This ice-covered village is located very close to the India-China Line of Actual Control.
Part of Spiti Valley, this village belongs to Mandi Lok Sabha constituency. BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut is contesting with Congress’s Vikramaditya Singh from here.
This polling booth is one of the attractions of the country’s second largest Lok Sabha constituency. There is almost a festive atmosphere here. There is a special lunch arrangement for the voters. The villagers themselves helped to decorate the polling station. As if not a vote, but actually preparations for a festival. Voting was held here for the first time in 2021. Since then, each polling station has received 100 percent voter turnout. This time also all the 37 male and 25 female voters will give public opinion, informed sources are sure.
Despite the low turnout, as the village is located very close to the Chinese border, vigilance is in full swing. 168 police and paramilitary personnel are deployed in this polling station, which has been identified as a ‘sensitive area’. Altogether there are 29 polling stations in this area. Three of which are ‘pink’ again. ie manned entirely by female staff-officers.
The month-and-a-half-long Lok Sabha election has come to its final stage. On Saturday, the seventh i.e. the last round of voting is going on across the country. Two days later the 4th count. The results of the candidates will be known on that day. For now, the eyes of the countrymen are on what is going on in the last round of voting. Tashigang is also in that list. It is said to be the highest polling station in the world.
